Telly tough man Ant Middleton has been ordered to curb his dangerous adventuring by his wife.
Ant, 39, revealed Emilie read him the riot act after he almost died on Mount Everest.
The SAS: Who Dares Wins star ended up stuck on top of the 29,029ft mountain during a fierce storm.
Ant, who served in the Special Boat Service, even considered jumping to his death because he feared he would freeze anyway.
He said: “I just wanted to stand on the apex of the world, but I’ve learned from it now. I came home to an ear-bashing from my wife. I’ve got to really rein it in.
“I’ve got a beautiful wife and beautiful children and I want to be there for my children.”
He added: “It was chasing the next best thing to do but now I’m like: ‘Ant, you’ve earned your stripes. Just chill out.’”
His climb was filmed for Channel 4’s Extreme Everest With Ant Middleton.
He was stuck in the “death zone” for hours as people around him were blown off.
However, Ant also admitted that some of the Everest trip was luxurious, as he left the trip part of the way through to check into a hotel.
Writing in his new book The Fear Bubble: “For the first time in a month there were no cameras pointing at me, no schedule bearing down on me and no alpha-male politics to negotiate. Not only that, I’d booked myself into the best hotel in town.
“Over the next few days I ended up basically living there,’ he continued. ‘I’d stumble out smashed at 2am every night.
“Then I’d wake up feeling dreadful, with the symptoms of my hangover concentrated dozens of times over by the effects of high altitude.”
