Apex Legends fans are anxiously awaiting the first few hints for what’s to come in season five, following last season’s bombastic opening. Respawn set off the season by killing one of its legends in February, and fans are waiting with bated breath to see what the developers will do next.

When is Apex Legends season five?

Players are now two months into season four of Apex Legends, with hints for what is to come few and far between.

Fans of the battle royale game have been left dangling on a thread, with some resorting to datamining to see what is in store.

One prolific data miner, Shrugtal, found a reference to the upcoming season in some recent update files from Respawn.

Shrugtal found an in-game model for Loba, who was introduced as a little girl at the end of last season’s trailer.

They also found several wolf-themed weapon skins for the character, who’s name means wolf in Portuguese.

Other players have found hints for the story to come in-game, with maps pointing towards a potential crossover with another of Respawn’s hit games.

Players who venture to a lesser-visited area of World’s Edge, Dome, will find a Titanfall themed keycard.

Activating the card brings up a reference to the infamous Singh Labs, and bears the logo of the ARES division, a wing of Titanfall’s alien-tech hunting IMC.

Singh Labs was added to Kings Canyon in season two and served as a launching point for Wraith’s Voidwalker storyline.

Those few hints are the only indicators of what could be to come in season five, although exactly what they indicate is yet to be seen.

Respawn previously said Titanfall fans would receive a “pleasant surprise” with season five, so they will likely build on that theme.

The last teaser revolved around Titanfall as well, as players were treated to a mobile phone bearing the same ARES logo.

Players found the phone also hinted at potential map changes to the Singh Labs location on Kings Canyon.

Leaked information suggests the developers’ latest easter egg is the second “phase” teasing the next season.

Experts theorise collecting all three might create a complete picture of what’s to come, although there is no date released for the final teaser.

Leaks suggest it could take place on April 24, however.

In terms of a potential start date for season five, it will likely fall after May 5, when the season four battle pass expires.

While the details of the incoming season are mostly up to speculation, players can expect some traditional changes.

Much like the other seasons, fans should be able to pick up a new playable character, map changes, a battle pass and a new weapon.
