Aquaman 2 news: Jason Momoa drops major bombshell with sequel RELEASE DATE 1

Aquaman was something of a gamble for DC, after years of remaking Batman in various ways. But the ginormous standalone film paid off when it was released last year, making $ 1 billion in the global box office. And now the film’s lead, Jason Momoa, is gearing up for the highly-anticipated sequel. The Game of Thrones star was asked about the success of his new franchise on Graham Norton’s chat show, as he talked what’s next.

Fans are desperate for the sequel and the man of the sea is one of the DC universe’s most beloved heroes.

Appearing on tonight’s episode alongside his former co-star Emilia Clarke, Momoa was excited to share some details with the audience, before suddenly revealing the apparent release date.

“We will be back,” he began vaguely. “Probably in a year from now.

“I was very excited about the reaction,” Momoa said, seemingly confirming the film will be out in October 2020 – or at the very least – in the autumn.

“We have a script, which we’ve pitched, and I’m very passionate about it,” the actor added.

The star has also assured the follow-up film will be even “bigger” than the first movie.

“There’s a lot more in store on so many more levels,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “There’s going to be a lot. It’s way bigger!”

In another recent interview with AP Entertainment, Momoa shed even more light on his involvement with pre-production, sharing how he took his own ideas to the studio.

“I’m very passionate about that, the direction of where Aquaman goes,” he said. “And so I went in with an idea and a pretty good layout of what I would like to do with the second one.

“And a lot of support, absolutely, a lot of support from Warner Bros. and DC.

“So, it’ll always be a team vision, but I definitely wanted to express my passion about number two,” the actor added.

Momoa’s long-time friend Clarke shared some news about her own new film on Graham Norton – Netflix movie Last Christmas.

Talking about her filming experience, she recalled: “Filming at Christmas in London last year was bonkers.

“Because we were in Covent Garden and Regent Street, we started at midnight and finished at midday and I was in a perpetual sort of hangover state.

“Starting filming at midnight in the centre of London had its issues – there are a lot of drunk people wandering around and shouting at usand leaning out of windows telling us how bad we were!”

Aquaman 2 is expected to be released in cinemas in 2020.

Last Christmas will be available to stream on Netflix before Christmas.
