Studio Wildcard’s delayed ARK Survival Evolved update is arriving this week, following its original June 4 postponement on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
The new ARK Survival Evolved patch has been rescheduled for Thursday, June 11, 2020, with Wildcard confirming in a new statement:
“Given the situation in the US, and the rest of the world right now, we will be rescheduling the ARK in-game celebration until Thursday, June 11.
“We understand that our community has much anticipated the ARK in-game party and the launch of Crystal Isles, and we’re looking forward to sharing all we have prepared for you next week.
“We felt it would be inappropriate to celebrate milestones during the present time as there are bigger things afoot, and that outweighs any plans we otherwise had. We believe now is the time to be respectful and hear the voices of others.”
And while the dev team has not announced a release time yet, we do know what will be included in the next big patch.
Unlike other updates, not all platforms will be getting the same content, with the official ARK Crystal Isles map support coming to PC this week.
Crystal Isles boasts floating islands, an interesting mix of biomes, and has been developed from the original mod launched back in 2016
This new map will be coming to consoles but won’t be ready to play on PS4, Nintendo Switch or Xbox One until Summer 2020.
The good news is there will be plenty of other stuff going live on June 11, including a new dinosaur and a special anniversary event.
Called Tropeognathus, the new flying-dino will bring some real firepower to the skies. Not only does it have a mean bite, but it can also be equipped with a Flak Cannon Saddle.
This will essentially make it one of the toughest aerial units to combat in ARK Survival Evolved.
A message from Studio Wildcard explains: “Once tamed, Tropeognathus has proven quite useful to the people of the Isles beyond mere transportation. For example, its toothed beak can grind down many common goods to their base components, which is a great way to recycle items and gear! Well, so long as you have a rag handy to wipe off the spit…
“That bite is punishing enough to crack armour and grind through it over time, and Tropeognathus can blow away flora and fauna alike with a gust from its wings. Air-to-air combat is where this creature really shines, though. And with the right tools, some survivors have managed to fit them with a saddle-mounted flak cannon and jet engine for maximum lethality.
“Trust me, you haven’t lived until you’ve ridden a jet-powered pterosaur into a dogfight. Saddle one up and see for yourself – you can be my wingman anytime.
“Because it’s on the wing so much, Tropeognathus is best snared by those riding another flier. I’ve noticed the more clever tribespeople using chain bolas to capture them while airborne.”
While some content will be limited to PC this week, we do know that the Anniversary event will be kicking off across all platforms.
The event will feature Party Dodos, interactive cakes, new chibis & surprises, and dazzling unicorns frolicking on rainbows… according to Studio Wildcard.
