El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie has finally hit our TV screens – and some US cinemas. Fans have been desperately waiting for this for a long time. Luckily for them, most seem to be pretty pleased with the movie.
What do fans think of El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie?
On Twitter, many fans have taken to sharing their views on the new film.
For most, luckily for creator Vince Gilligan and star Aaron Paul, they believe this to be a brilliant final look at what happened after the end of Breaking Bad.
One fan said: “Just finished watching El Camino on Netflix, and I gotta say, it’s a great movie.
“Aaron Paul gives another great performance as Jesse Pinkman, as he attempts to run from his past. As a massive fan of the show, I’m pretty satisfied with how his story concluded.”
Another said: “El Camino gave a realistic and a great End to post Breaking Bad. Jesse Pinkman nailed it. A worth watching movie #elcaminomovie”
A third added: “#ElCamino was great. I’ve watched it today and it was amazing. The actors especially @aaronpaul_8 have done a great job.
“It was just like the old breaking bad times with some of its WTF moments. And I was so glad to see some old faces again which I didn’t expect @BreakingBad”
Even celebrities weighed in with their opinions, including band Foster the People.
They said: “Stoked that #elcamino is out so I can watch it again. this movie is such a fun ride.
“@aaronpaul_8 leads this story like an unhinged alpha boss. and everything Vince Gilligan touches is gold.
“God, I missed this world. thank you for making this film!! #
Some fans, in contrast, are not only happy with this but are desperate for more Breaking Bad spin-offs, no matter who it includes.
One fan said: “Not even kidding. I could go for a wacky spin-off of ‘Skinny & Badger’ for sure.
“Great performance from both and I wanted more. Church, yo! #ElCamino #Breakingbad”
Another added: “Damn son #BreakingBad is over just like that #ElCamino was great but I need more :(“
Meanwhile, a minority of fans felt the film did not quite hit the mark, and potentially left some gaps in their understanding of the Breaking Bad universe, such as the outcome of young Brock Cantillo (played by Ian Posada.)
Nevertheless, the overwhelming reaction to the film has been good, and that it will be a satisfying end to the story of Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul.)
What do critics think of El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie?
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, meaning it is utterly loved by all.
Michael Starr of the New York Post said: “For Breaking Bad fans jonesing for something, anything, connected to the chronological time frame of their beloved series, it should do the trick.”
The Guardian’s Paul MacInnes said: “Gilligan – who reprises his own role as writer and director – has always been good at keeping his audience on their toes,” alongside a four-star review.
TIME magazine’s Judy Berman added: “Paul earned three Emmys for his supporting role on Breaking Bad, and in El Camino, he delivers a mesmerizing lead performance that proves he deserves a spot on Hollywood’s A-list.”
Aaron Paul’s performance has wowed fans and critics alike – but will it mean more for Jesse in this universe?
Both he and creator Gilligan have suggested Jesse’s time is done but never say never.
