An Epic throwback is under works after Fortnite announced the World Cup champions would be hosting a solo and duo cup. After all, they were both awarded $ 3,000,000 for being the best players in their respective gamemodes

After the Tuesday update, leakers were quick to point out some interesting data found within the game files. The preview images and tournament names were the first to be revealed on patch night

Today we received an official update from Fortnite’s competitive Twitter account where they shared an official time and date for both events

Aqua & Nyhrox’s (Duo) Event: July 28-29th

Bugha’s (Solo) Event: July 30-31st

“JULY 28th – 29th. This tournament is region-locked and occurs over two rounds. The top 50 teams in each region will qualify to the final round with the exception of Europe where Aqua and Nyhrox will be awaiting the best 49 teams. A year later, can these legendary players still show they’ve got what it takes?”

While the prize pool of this event is still unknown, you’ve got to assume that it should be similar to Emad, Lachy, or Jacob’s previously held “creator events” – so nothing too major. Nevertheless, it should be some light hearted fun that players of all skill can give a go at

Both events will take place in two stages, the first of which being opens. From opens, the next stage will funnel down to a single custom lobby that will go down the next day

With west Dreamhack kicking off today and exhausting the weekend and FNCS starting next weekend, this 4 day stretch of competition should round out our week of competing. By the end of Season 3 FNCS, we’re going to be exhausted of Epic throwing money at us!

Also while we’re on the topic of tournaments – tomorrow Epic is hosting a different kind of test event. Long awaited and it’s finally here, a box fight test tournament is going down tomorrow

All Champion League players are eligible to compete and the event will “self-destruct” upon conclusion. Will Epic pursue box fighting as a legitimate competitive gamemode? I guess we’ll see
