A big Call of Duty Modern Warfare update is launching this week
Call of Duty Warzone and Modern Warfare are being updated this week in a big way across platforms. A big part of this is the launch of COD Season 4, and there have been plenty of rumours covering how developers Infinity Ward could change things in-game. Fans believe that areas of the map might be changed dramatically on PS4, Xbox One and PC. This could include The Dam being destroyed, affecting other areas of the Verdansk map, with data miners reporting finding new sound files of ice cracking, among other things.
A range of new weapons, skins and maps are also expected to arrive as part of the Modern Warfare bundle.
This will reportedly include new melee weapons, although it’s unclear if these will come to both Modern Warfare and Warzone.
Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 4 will start on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Developers Infinity Ward has yet to confirm its plans for Season 4 but the good news is that this information should be arriving very soon.
And while it might not give everything away, it could provide some much-needed clarity on what to expect later this week.
CALL OF DUTY MODERN WARFARE SEASON 4 PATCH NEWS
Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 4 is kicking off on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 on PS4, Xbox and PC.
Activision usually releases its major Modern Warfare updates on Tuesdays but it seems likely this won’t be the case this week.
With COD Season 4 scheduled to go live on Wednesday, we would expect it all to kick off with the patch going live.
Most recent updates have been going live later than usual, so we would expect the new Warzone update launching at 2am ET.
For gamers in the UK, this would mean the new Call of Duty patch going live at around 7am GMT if you live in the UK.
Patch notes are expected to be shared before everything goes live, which means news should be coming soon from Activision.
New Playlist changes could also be on the cards, with Duos currently in the mix and expecting to stick around for a while.
A message from Activision adds: “One of the easiest strategies to implement in Duos is to work as a pair near each other. The term “watch my six” should become a standard part of your plans, as two Operators can easily cover 360 degrees of space by staying close and watching each other’s backs.
“Having only two Operators per squad also creates a potential meta shift, as you may need to consolidate multiple roles onto one Operator using the Overkill perk. Assault rifle-sniper builds are great, but if neither of you has an answer for vehicles or a close-range battle with a shotgun, you may be in trouble.”
A number of other Playlists for Warzone have also leaked, including one that allows you to start with your own loadout, another that features the gas always moving, and another that makes the gas always move faster than a player.
Another that could replace the current lineup is one that allows dead players to duke it out in the Gulag until the final three circles, with no buybacks allowed.
