Catherine Zeta Jones, 50, took to Instagram today to share some sad family news.
The award-winning actress told her 3.1 million followers her beloved pet pooch had recently passed away.
Catherine and her husband Michael Douglas, 75, welcomed the snowy Maltese into the family when her children Dylan and Carys, now 19 and 16, were small.
Sharing a picture of herself with her dog, who had been a member of the family for ten years, she penned a message to her “darling Figaro”.
It read: “Thank you my darling Figaro for all the years of your friendship and love.”
She continued: “We will miss you so very much, sleep tight little one.”
The Maltese breed are a toy dog covered with silky white hair.
They are known for being affectionate, good with children and friendly towards strangers.
Catherine’s daughter Carys, who was only six when the pooch was introduced to the family, also spoke of her heartbreak on social media.
Alongside an adorable black and white picture of her dog, she told her 111,000 followers: “Will love you forever.”
Catherine was often seen walking Figaro when she lived in New York City and was working on Broadway.
In 2010, she made her Broadway debut in Trevor Nunn’s run of A Little Night Music alongside Angela Lansbury and her dog was her regular companion to the theatre.
