Claudia Winkleman: ‘Don’t wake me up’ Strictly host speaks of change in marriage 1

Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman, 47, joined Stacey Solomon, 30, on the Big Fat Quiz of the Decade this week. During an answer round on the show, the mother-of-two joked about changes in a relationship, seemingly referencing her marriage to Kris Thykier.

The presenter made the admission after Stacey shared her thoughts about a question on the show.

She replied: “If Joe [Swash], ‘I’m trapped down a mine will you come and meet me and get me out,’ I’d say, ‘No, don’t be ridiculous, I’ll see you at home’.”

Seemingly agreeing with the Loose Women star, Claudia jokingly chimed: “You don’t pick them up from the airport after a couple of years.

“‘I’m landing at 5am,’ okay. Don’t wake me up when you’re in and bring me a Toblerone you d**k,” which prompted her fellow panelists to laugh.

Claudia has been married to Kris Thykier since 2000. The couple have three children together; Matilda, Jake and Arthur.

In a column for The Times Luxx magazine, she spoke out about knowing her husband is “the one” for her.

She said: “It’s like when you think back to the first kiss with your first true love.

Sure, you’d snogged Nigel in the Swiss Cottage Odeon stairwell (or this might just be me) and had a fiddle with Rupert at a Gatecrasher ball.”

Seemingly referencing her husband, she continued: “But when he, you know, the one, took your head into his hands and placed his mouth on yours, fireworks went off, your knees buckled, you breathed slightly differently and you didn’t quite know why you’d kissed anyone before.

She added of secret chat with her parents: “You called your parents afterwards and said, ‘I’m going to marry him,’ then immediately bought Agent Provocateur underwear that was indeed scratchy, but somehow just right.”

Elsewhere, the Strictly presenter said she feels “guilty” about a typical morning routine in their family’s home.

“The kids wake up really early at 7am,” she told Hello! Magazine.

She added: “We’re all up making breakfast, do the drop off then come back and I’m back into bed.

“I feel bad and guilty for saying that.”

She added: “It’s slightly chaotic. It’s a bit better now that they’re older.

“Once they start to get dressed themselves, then you’re on to a winner. There was a time when I was putting on socks and shoes.”
