Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy to 'settle legal dispute this week' after online feud 1

Wags Coleen Rooney, 34, and Rebekah Vardy, 38, are apparently due to “settle a legal battle” to avoid taking it to the courts this week. The former friends have been embroiled in an on-going feud since Coleen, wife of Wayne Rooney, publicly accused Rebekah of leaking private details of her life to the media late last year.

The Sun reported that Jamie Vardy’s wife Rebekah, allegedly “threatened to sue for libel” after the announcement went viral and Coleen warned to hit back with a “countersue for breach of privacy”.

The publication said that sources have revealed an arbitration hearing will take place using video conferencing app Zoom “in an attempt to avoid court”.

They suggested legal costs are already said to be in “five figures”.

According to the media site, sources told them: “This is a final roll of the dice to prevent a court case — but both Becky and Coleen are still as determined as ever to be proven right.

“They have both been strongly advised to reach an agreement but they’re both totally determined to stick to their guns.

“Unless they can agree to walk away, the costs are only going to continue climbing.”

Express.co.uk reached out to both Coleen’s and Rebekah’s reps for comment.

Fans will remember at the end of last year the two went head to head after the claims spread rapidly around the internet.

Coleen made shocking accusations that Rebekah’s Instagram account had disclosed stories about her, which she had planted on her private social media page in order to catch the culprit.

The star revealed her friend had been posting false Instagram stories on her private account and blocking all her other pals to prove that Rebekah’s account was the one at fault.

The mother-of-four explained details of her life were only seen by Rebekah’s account and were then shared by The Sun.

The stories included one about gender selection, her plans to return to TV and another about her basement flooding.

Coleen wrote to her followers on her public page: “For a few years now someone who I trusted to follow me on my personal Instagram account has been consistently informing The Sun newspaper of my private posts and stories.

“There has been so much information given to them about me, my friends and my family – all without my permission or knowledge.

“After a long time of trying to figure out who it could be, for various reasons, I had a suspicion.

“To try and prove this, I came up with an idea, I blocked everyone from viewing Instagram except ONE account.”

She continued: “(Those on my private account must have been wondering why I haven’t had stories on there for a while).

“Over the past five months I have posted a series of false stories to see if they made their way into The Sun newspaper.

“And you know what, they did! The story about gender selection in Mexico, the story about returning to TV and then the latest story about the basement flood in my new house.”

Coleen revealed she had kept quiet after she discovered who the culprit was, adding: “It’s been tough keeping it to myself and not making any comment at all, especially when the stories have been leaked, however I had to. Now I know for certain which account/individual it’s come from.

“I have saved and screenshotted all the original stories which clearly show just one person has viewed them.

“It’s……… Rebekah Vardy’s account.”
