Conor McGregor hints at Manny Pacquiao fight as UFC rival not subject of tweet

Conor McGregor has dropped another massive hint about a potential boxing clash against superstar Manny Pacquiao.

The Irish UFC fighter has already ventured into boxing once before where he took on American Floyd Mayweather back in 2017.

As things stand McGregor is retired from the UFC – but many believe he will make his return to the sport at some point.

However, the 32-year-old regularly teases fans about trying his hand at boxing once more and he has now dropped his biggest hint yet.

That is after he posted a cryptic message on Twitter this weekend that read: “Tinatanggap ko.”

The word ‘tinatanggap’ is written in Tagalog, which is the language of the Philippines where Pacquiao is from.

It could also suggest that his previous tweet of “I accept” was not in fact a response to unbeaten UFC star Khamzat Chimaev calling him out.

Many believed that McGregor was responding to the Swedish fighter after his “beg me” comments to the Dubliner.

The 26-year-old has racked up eight straight wins, including two in 10 days on fight Island, and has a 50 per cent KO rate with four stoppages from eight.

According to ESPN , McGregor insisted it had nothing to do with Chimaev but “declined to further elaborate what it was actually referring to.”

McGregor remains one of the biggest draws in sport, regularly breaking pay-per-view records when he fights.

Speaking after his most recent retirement from the UFC, he said: “The game just does not excite me, and that’s that. All this waiting around. There’s nothing happening.

“I’m going through opponent options, and there’s nothing really there at the minute. There’s nothing that’s exciting me.

“I’m a bit bored of the game. I’m just not excited about the game. I don’t know if it’s no crowd. I don’t know what it is. There’s just no buzz for me.”

His last fight was a quick fire victory over Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone in Las Vegas in January, where he dispatched the American in under one minute.
