Coronation Street viewers have pointed out a major blunder that could potentially send Gary Windass (Mikey North) to jail for a very long time.
The Corrie killer murdered loan shark Rick Neelan in a violent showdown last year and he later took over his dodgy business.
The pair went head to head in the woods but Gary got the upper hand over his nemesis by killing him and burying his body.
Things took a turn for the worst for Gary earlier this year when Rick’s teenage daughter Kelly returned to the cobbles, having enrolled at Weatherfield High School.
The killer builder has so far tried to keep away from Kelly but they crossed paths and he discovered she was thrown out of her private school Oakhill when her dad’s money stopped coming in.
The schoolgirl added that her mum ended up owing thousands of pounds in fees as a result of missed payments.
This revelation left Gary highly confused, as he has secretly been paying Kelly’s school fees out of guilt when he thought of the implications for Rick’s daughter.
Instead of keeping Rick’s wife and daughter out of his life, he has begun to tell them that he is still in contact with murdered Rick, a statement fans believe will see Gary end up behind bars.
Taking to Twitter, one fan of the ITV soap pointed out: “Doesn’t Kelly’s mum find it odd that Gary is a complete stranger but somehow speaking for Rick and ensuring his payments??”
Another penned: “I’m sure Rick’s body will be found eventually, then questions will be asked about how Gary has been in regular contact with a guy who’s been dead for months.”
A third posted: “Don’t understand why Gary retains any interest in Rick’s family after killing him, surely creates suspicion?”
Corrie boss Iain MacLeod previously teased that Rick’s body will be found during the annual major storyline week in May but coronavirus shutdown delayed that, and plans have now changed.
Iain explained: “Adam Barlow is secretly conspiring against him and will threaten to lead Adam and therefore the authorities to Rick’s final resting place.
“We’re aware that Rick’s body is resting over there, and we are resisting the urge to dig it up as it feels like everyone is expecting us to.
“So, I hope we’re playing in a good way with the audience’s expectations around that.”
Is Gary’s time running out?
