Coronation Street star Sam Aston, 27 – who plays Chesney Brown in the ITV soap – has introduced his new “little ray of sunshine” with his fans this evening. The actor’s newborn son is his first with his wife Briony, a yoga instructor, who he married last year.
The actor announced the news and unveiled their baby’s name on his Instagram page this evening.
The couple could be seen doting over their newborn, who was sleeping in Briony’s arms.
Sam wrote alongside the adorable offering: “Welcome to the world little man. Our little ray of sunshine. Sonny James Aston.”
Many of Sam’s co-stars and fans flocked to his post to congratulate the pair on their new arrival.

Briony also shared the news on her Instagram page.
She wrote: “Sonny Aston. He calmly entered our world 6 weeks early on 11.08.20 at 5lbs 7oz and we couldn’t be more in love.”
The couple, who married in May last year, announced they are expecting a baby boy together back in May.
In an interview with OK! Magazine, the Chesney Brown actor said he was “adamant” the pair were going to have a girl.

He said: “We’re having a boy! It was a massive surprise when we found out, as there are loads of girls in our families, so we were adamant that we were having a girl.”
Briony added: “We found out the day before lockdown.
“Sam couldn’t come with me because of the current rules, so I got the consultant to write the sex on a piece of paper and put it in an envelope and we both then sat in the car and opened it together. We were over the moon.”
Ahead of falling pregnant, she said she would like “a house full of children” in the future.
But, Sam said the pair were keen to do some travelling before bringing children into the world.
“I want a house full of children but we want to do things like go on a Harley-Davidson trip through northern Italy,” Briony added.
Sam and Briony exchanged vows at Stock Farm in Cheshire in May last year after getting engaged in 2017.
Their lavish ceremony was attended by many of his Coronation Street co-stars including Alan Halsall, Jennie McAlpine and Andy Whyment.
