WHO chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan told Nature: “Getting the clinical trials straight is a priority, since if we get information on what is working and not working, we can benefit patients now.”
There is, however, a concern China’s clinical trials could be ineffective if not handled appropriately.
According to Dr Swaminathan, there is a strict protocol clinical trials need to follow to ensure fair results.
She said: “We can hopefully bring some sort of structure into the whole thing.”
The WHO is working with Chinese scientists to ensure all tests are up to international standard.
