Emergency services rushed to the scene following the stabbings which happened just before 11am today at a home in Hazel Way, Crawley Down. Two of the victims were certified dead at the scene by paramedics and were understood to have had their throats cut. The third victim, who had suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest and was said to have lost a lot of blood, was rushed to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton by ambulance.

The knifeman is believed to be known to the victims and was detained by police.
Police immediately set up a cordon around the house and drafted in forensic experts to begin a search for evidence.
It is believed a knife was seized at the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Alex Geldart, of Sussex and Surrey major crime team said: “At this time we believe this to be an isolated incident, with no ongoing risk to members of the public.
“This is a fast-moving investigation which will see significant police resources deployed to the scene for the forseeable future.
“We are grateful for the support and patience of the local community while we conduct our enquiries.’
DCI Geldart added: “My thoughts are very much with the friends and family of the two women who have sadly lost their lives.”
