Cruise: Jane McDonald reveals unlikely part of cruising that ‘always’ gets her ‘excited’

As part of her latest cruising adventure, singing starlet Jane McDonald climbed aboard a luxury river cruise sailing its way down the Mekong River. Once she stepped aboard and was shown to her stylish sleeping quarters the celebrity cruiser made a surprising revelation.

According to Jane, there is one part of the cruise experience that she is always “excited” about, and likes to see when she is onboard.

“I get very excited about bathrooms,’ she said on Channel 5’s Jane McDonald: Cruising Asia.

“I don’t know why I get excited. It’s just I always like to see the bathrooms on the ship.”

She then added that she probably seemed a bit “bonkers” for having an interest in such a thing.

Luckily, onboard the RV AmaDara, which would be Jane’s home for the duration of her asian adventure, her sleeping quarters were nothing short of opulence.

In fact, the Loose Women panellist was overwhelmed to find that not only did her bathroom offer a bath, but what she described as a “jacuzzi”.

The RV AmaDara offers five different types of stateroom, all complete with a balcony which Jane points out is rare for a river cruise.

Top of the tier is the “luxury suite” which boasts a kind-sized bed, large seating area, writing desk, mini-bar, flat panel screen television, telephone and hairdryer.

Guests will also be given a bathrobe and slippers, as well as complimentary bottled water which is replenished daily.

When it comes to the bathroom, no matter which stateroom guests opt for, there is plenty of room as well as both a bathtub and separate shower.

The ship also features a wealth of amenities for guests including a spa, fitness room and sundeck pool.

Meanwhile two speciality restaurant and a lounge with its own fully stocked bar are also on hand to further boost the experience.

Jane’s exciting favourite feature wasn’t the only secret she shared with viewers of the documentary though.

The former cruise ship singer also revealed a top tip for avoiding seasickness that she has picked up over the years.

Though the ailment is unavoidable at times, and some people are more prone to it than others, Jane’s tip specifically offers a helping hand to first-time cruisers.

“For anyone who hasn’t cruised before, who is a bit worried about seasickness, I’d recommend that you dip your toe into cruising with a river cruise because they are a lot more tranquil and also there is no motion sickness because it is really flat,” she said.

Seasickness is often caused by the tidal surges and harsh waves larger cruise ships sail over.

River cruises, on the other hand, tend to avoid the turbulence.

You won’t feel seasick at all,” she assured.
