Dad waits 28 years to get ultimate birthday revenge on his 'sarcastic' son

A dad has proved that revenge is definitely a dish served best cold after getting his own back on his son 28 years later.

Rob Witts poked fun at his dad turning 42 when he was just 14 sending him a homemade birthday card.

The card had the number 42 written in red pen and read: “Hey, everybody! He’s 42! of course…we won’t draw ATTENTION to it, will we? Happy 42nd birthday Dad! From Robbie.”

The card would have probably taken pride of place on a sideboard or mantelpiece for all friends and family to see.

Like all cheeky teenagers Rob probably had a good laugh along with his dad and then forgot all about it the following day.

But little did Rob know, his dad was already hatching the ultimate of comebacks which would require bags of patience.

He kept the card and waited until Rob himself turned 42 then gave it back to him with a few minor changes and added inside: “I guess if you wait long enough what goes round comes round!

When Rob’s dad turned 42 Twitter didn’t even exist so the level embarrassment was relatively low.

Now good sport Rob has shared the birthday card on social media telling his followers: “Fair play to my dad sending me the sarky card I made for his 42nd birthday, astonishing commitment to karmic justice.”

The post has received 163 comments, 1.5K retweets and 17.7K likes so now EVERYBODY knows Rob is 42!

Rob’s dad has now got “legend” status with many praising him for his “long game”.

One wrote: “This is brilliant. I have visions of him wringing his hands each year on your birthday, just waiting for the big 4-2. He sounds like a bit of a legend.”

Another tweeted: “Can you imagine him quietly sniggering to himself every now and again, FOR DECADES, in anticipation of what he was going to do?”

While another simply said: “This is sensational on so many levels.”

Rob was over the moon with the reaction tweeting: “Wow, twitter does love dads!”

Speaking about his dad, Rob added: “He is a great guy and continues to be an outstanding role model. I have so many emotions.”
