Elden Ring gameplay REVEAL: The wait is finally over for in-game footage 1

From Software and Sony are finally about to reveal more about upcoming fantasy game Elden Ring.

Developed in collaboration with Game of Thrones writer George R. R. Martin, the open-world action game has gone MIA since its E3 2019 reveal.

But the wait for gameplay footage and release date news is about to come to an end, as From Software brings the game to the Taipei Game Show in February.

According to the official information page, Elden Ring will be joined by the likes of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Marvel’s Iron Man VR, Marvel’s Avengers, and Persona 5 Royal.

PS4 exclusives like The Last of Us Part 2 and Nioh 2 will also make an appearance at the show.

Fans of Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro will be particularly excited to see more from Elden Ring, and potentially unearth some of its secrets.

Of course, there’s a chance it will just be another cinematic teaser, but fingers crossed this isn’t the case.

Elden Ring is described as a “fantasy action-RPG adventure” set within a world created by Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin.

“Danger and discovery lurk around every corner in FromSoftware’s largest game to-date,” the description reads.

There’s no word on a release date, although the latest rumours suggest it will launch later this year.

That’s based on a recent New Year’s message from the Dark Souls studio to fans.

As part of a New Year’s card featured on the From Software website, the developer listed Elden Ring for June 2020.

If this turns out to be true, then expect a release date announcement alongside a new gameplay reveal sooner rather than later.

Another game appearing at the Tapei Game Show is 2020 blockbuster Cyberpunk 2077.

The game is said to have a deep relationship system for making friends and taking partners.

The skill system, meanwhile, has been described as huge. Players will reportedly gain progression points for learning new skills and boosting attributes.

Levelling up certain attributes lets you install specific chips, although players can also improve skills by performing actions more often.

Using one weapon, for example, improves your ability with it. The same is also said to be true for melee and hacking.

Street Cred – which is gained by completing tasks – gives players access to dangerous missions with greater rewards. Speaking of missions, side quests can influence the game’s story and ending.
