Elvis Presley: The King’s CRAZY fireworks wars at Graceland ‘You’ll burn down the office!’

Aside from his incredible music career, Elvis Presley had a fascinating private life. The King lived at Graceland surrounded by close friends and family known as the Memphis Mafia. This included cousin Billy Smith, his wife Jo and their son Danny.

In recent years the family have been sharing some memorable moments from their time with Elvis at Graceland on Danny’s YouTube channel Memphis Mafia Kid.

And in one video on crazy times with The King at his Tennessee mansion, Danny reminisced watching Elvis and his friends in a fireworks war.

The King’s second cousin, who was just a teenager at the time said how the sight was “Just crazy!”

Danny continued: “And we were hoping it would happen.

“It was the very last time that y’all shot fireworks and had firework wars.

“And [Elvis] started shooting into the little storage building that had all the fireworks stored.”

His parents Billy and Jo clarified this was the office and well house.

But apparently Elvis’ father Vernon was not impressed by the dangerous mischief.

He shouted to his son: “You’re going to burn the office down!

“You keep on doing that you’re going to catch the office on fire!”

To which the cheeky Elvis replied: “Hell, that’s what I’m trying to do!”

Elvis’ father famously lived and worked at Graceland with his son.

While Colonel Tom Parker was very much The King’s manager, it was Vernon who handled his personal business.

This included Elvis’ personal finances, the Graceland staff and the estate itself.

Today the Memphis mansion is owned by his only child Lisa Marie and has been a museum since 1982.

Right now Graceland is closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, the Director of Archives has been sharing videos on the house’s official Instagram account from inside.

This included a good look inside Vernon’s office, the one behind the house where Elvis was shooting fireworks near.

From here secretaries would handle The King’s fan mail.
