Emmerdale‘s Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) was left seriously injured after being brutally beaten by his dad Paul Ashdale (Reece Hinsdale) earlier this week.
The scenes came as Vinny confronted his dad about his gambling addict, realising Paul had stolen money from the Dingles and a watch from Ellis Chapman.
As Vinny asked his dad about the crime, he viciously attacked his son, punching him, knocking him to the ground before punching him and kicking him until he curled into a ball.
He left Vinny on the ground as he stormed off, leaving viewers sickened by the vicious attack.
The brutal showdown left fans certain that Vinny could have been abused by his dad as a child, noticing small clues over the past few weeks.
One fan posted on social media: “This is a very powerful showing of how abuse and gaslighting doesn’t just happen in romantic relationships. My heart is breaking for Vinny. Please don’t let this go on for too long.”
Another added: “Paul beating up Vinny then gaslighting & emotionally manipulating him – I think this is heading towards an abuse storyline.”
A fourth wrote: “I think Paul beating vinny will be a long running abuse story.”
If fans are right, and Paul’s rage continues, Vinny could be in serious danger as he tries to help his father with his gambling addiction.
According to Buzz Bingo, Emmerdale is the soap with the highest number of characters being crushed to death.
Five characters, including Tricia Dingle in 2004, Gerry Roberts in 2018, and Stephen Fuller in 1988, have been crushed to death by different items.
In comparison, EastEnders has just had one, with Fatboy being crushed in a car by Ronnie Mitchell’s hitmen in 2015.
The same goes for Coronation Street, with Harry Hewitt by crushed by a van in 1967.
Could Paul end up murdering his own son for a dark ending to a secret child abuse plot that has been rumbling on for years?
Emmerdale continues on Monday at 7pm on ITV.
