Flights: Cabin crew shames passenger for ‘high maintenance’ move – would you do this?

Flights abroad have been out of bounds until recently, meaning that most Britons have been dreaming about their next holiday. But for cabin crew, the coronavirus outbreak may have just saved them from some unfortunate mid-flight mishaps. Cabin crew often face a lot of challenges mid-air.

From questionable hygiene, to awkward passengers, the role of a flight attendant is not easy.

And now one flight attendant has revealed on Reddit their one awkward encounter with a passenger who was subsequently labelled as “high maintenance”.

The cabin crew member explained that the unfortunate incident occurred when the plane was switched and her family’s seats were changed.

The flight attendant said: “I was a flight attendant for a while.

“There was a family that was understandably upset because we had to do a plane switch, which meant that their seat reservations were suddenly reset – this happens because it’s a new plane configuration and flight attendants do not know until they board, or just before.

“So the matriarch is trying to arrange it, but none of her children or her husband nor her father want the seats she feels like assigning.

“She’s walking up and down the aisle continuously DURING boarding and against everyone else while making a big fuss to the flight attendants.

“Finally, after everyone is settled, she asks me to go to her husband several rows up and bring her purse back because she left it there.”

The flight attendant then revealed that it was actually the passenger’s own husband who labelled her “high maintenance”.

She added: “Her husband asks me for a favour and says, ‘When you bring this to her, can you tell her a joke?

“‘Tell her she’s high maintenance!

“‘She’ll love that!’

“I decided to just present her purse.”

But this isn’t the worst experience from this flight attendant.

And so, this flight attendant was shocked when she was asked to dispose of something truly foul.

They explained: “Lady changes her toddler’s diaper on the seat during boarding, then hands me said full diaper to dispose of, and was upset to have to hold it longer when I said I’d find her a disposal bag.

“Lady, I have to handle food.

“Please don’t hand me a dirty diaper.”
