Fortnite Battle Royale developer Epic Games is finally about to release Season 3, but only after an in-game event called The Device.

After multiple delays and extensions, Fortnite Season 3 has been given a June 17 release date on PS4, Xbox One, PC, iOS, Android and Nintendo Switch.

But we can’t have a new chapter of Fortnite without first enjoying a bumper end-of-season event to set the stage.

After one or two false starts, The Device has been given a June 15 launch date on consoles, smartphones and PC.

Based on the countdown timer that has appeared within the game, the event takes place at 7pm BST for UK players. That’s 2pm ET / 11am PT for fans who live in the US.

However, to avoid missing the event due to server issues and limited space, Epic Games warns players to login roughly 30 minutes before it all begins.

Another delay seems highly unlikely, so now is the time to start getting psyched about the new season and all of its surprises.

To get ready for the big event, Epic has made the Cyclo Outfit available to purchase from the in-game store.

Needless to say, the skin suggests that a big storm is coming, and that it could have huge ramifications for the Season 3 map.

Based on leaks, the new Fortnite event could lead to the map being flooded for the start of Season 3.

In the lead up to the start of the event, five different hatches around The Agency have been opened up by Epic Games.

Something big is clearly about to happen to the Fortnite map, and The Agency will be at the centre of it.

Then there’s the mysterious and unofficially titled “doomsday” device Midas is building in his lair.

It’s likely Midas and his machine will be involved in flooding the island, which will create new gameplay opportunities in the new season.

The flooding theory was bolstered by another leak over on the PlayStation Store, where the Fortnite icon was momentarily updated.

The new icon depicted the Battle Bus flying above a vast sea of water, with only a small deserted island seen in the distance.

Previous leaks also suggest that a brand new flare gun weapon will also be added to the game soon.

Whether this new item appears in the new season or as part of the event remains to be seen.
