A new video podcast series on Freddie Mercury called Finding Freddie has launched to promote his new Never Boring box set. And the first episode sees those who were close to him sharing what it was really like being in the Queen singer’s company. In one scene, journalist and interviewer David Wigg shares an amusing prank Freddie pulled on his friends at a housewarming party.

Wigg revealed: “When he bought the house, this lovely Edwardian mansion in Kensington, he had a [housewarming] party to ask the friends along to see…what we all thought of it.

“I arrived dead on time…and he said, ‘David and Mary, come upstairs, come upstairs!’

“So he made us hid[e] on the balcony which overlooked the hallway.

“He could hear what the people, his friends, were saying about the house as they walked in.”

Wigg added: “And he said – he could be wicked like this – ‘They dare say anything against my taste, there won’t be another invitation for them here.

“That is what he was like. We were up there sort of listening and peering over.

“They didn’t know we were up there. He was full of fun and pranks like that y’know.”

In the video, Freddie’s friends also spoke of his unique brand of humour, how he was up for anything, but could be very quiet and shy at times.

Last week, a road named after the star called Freddie Mercury Close, was unveiled in Feltham.

In attendance were the Queen singer’s sister Kashmira Bulsara and her son Samuel, alongside Mayor of Hounslow Tony Louki and Lord Bilimoria.

Freddie’s sister pulled back a special cover over the street name’s sign.

The newly named road is outside the World Zoroastrian Organisation head office.

Fans will know Zoroastrianism is the faith that Freddie was born into and his funeral was conducted by a priest of the religion.

The office’s new address is 1 Freddie Mercury Close.

Meanwhile, Queen and Adam Lambert have just completed the Oceania leg of their Rhapsody world tour.

The band’s final concert before an Easter break took place at Gold Coast’s Metricon Stadium on Saturday night.

Brian May wrote to fans on his Instagram: “Farewell Australia.

“What a journey it’s been ! Thanks you all of you beautiful Koreans, Japanese, Kiwis and Aussies for an incredible embrace.

“I may go a little quiet for a while now – time to hide and heal and reboot.

“Lots of love to all of you who read my ramblings – appreciation to all of you around the world who support me in my often tortuous efforts to promote a better deal for non-human animals, spreading consciousness of our place in the Universe, and exploring the world of 3-D.”
