Today marks the 3rd anniversary of the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States.

During the traditional ceremony which took place on January 20, 2017 in front of the famous Capitol Building, the businessman’s beautiful wife was by his side to show her support.

Taking on the role of America’s First Lady, Melania Trump stepped into the spotlight in style.

Former model Melania, 49, showed off her fashion credentials from the outset choosing to wear an outfit from an iconic American designer for the very important day.

The mum-of-one wore a stunning pale blue number from Ralph Lauren which drew comparisons to former First Lady and 1960s style icon Jackie Kennedy.

The outfit comprised of a double-face jacket with cropped sleeves worn over a matching knee-length dress.

She completed her look with a pair light blue long gloves and her signature Manolo Blahnik stilettos in a similar colour.

The 1960s style icon chose American fashion designer Oleg Cassini to create her beige wool dress and coordinating coat for her first official outing as First Lady.

The coat featured a round neckline, two large buttons and elegant three-quarter length sleeves.

Following fashionable Jackie Kennedy was no easy task for Claudia Alta, who was known to all as ‘Lady Bird’.

The socialite wore a bold red coat and matching hat for her husband’s inauguration day.

A black scarf detail at the collar perfectly complimented her accessories – black leather gloves, a pair of matching pumps and a purse with a gold chain.

Nancy Reagan commanded attention on inauguration day in an Adolfo coat dress similar in style to Rosalyn’s.

The glamorous coat was in a shade of red dubbed Reagan Red.

The American actress completed her outfit with a coordinating red pillbox hat.

For her husband’s second inauguration she wore another design in the same colour.
