Samurai Gunn 2 Is Coming, And Will Also Star Characters From Spelunky And Minit

It’s been a while since we last saw news of colourful platform-brawler Samurai Gunn 2 — the trailer above is from 2018, and it was due to come out in 2019 — but today, that changed. The official Twitter account announced that the game was not only coming out in Early Access on Steam this Summer, but that there would also be two very special guest stars.

Ana from Spelunky 2 and Minit from… Minit will appear in the game as playable characters, along with unique abilities based on their games, and a special “Friend” level based on the art of Minit.

Samurai Gunn 2

There will be four worlds to fight in, when Samurai Gunn 2 comes out in full, but the Early Access version will launch with just the first world.

From the Steam page, we can be sure that the game will include six playable samurai, an Adventure Mode, Local Mode, and Online Multiplayer Mode, nine “versus” levels, and something called a “Funn Mode”, which tones down the violence and blood for a more family-friendly experience. Not all of these are available in the Early Access version.

Samurai Gunn 2

[/image[
The decision to go with Early Access, according to lead developer Beau Blyth, is that they want the players to lead the way.

“Samurai Gunn 2 is extremely fun to play right now, and has all of the main modes and features we want in the finished game. We want to get our community playing, having a blast with friends, and giving us feedback. We believe we can make a better game by seeing what people enjoy the most and doubling down on that.”

Needless to say, if you want to have some influence on how Samurai Gunn 2 ends up, Early Access might be the way to go — or you can just wait for it to come out in full on Switch, but there’s no set release date for that.

Will you be giving Samurai Gunn 2 a go this summer, or do you prefer to play games when they’re all polished up? Let us know in the comments.

The Guardian Games Return in Destiny 2

Summary

  • Free event for all players running from April 20 to May 11.
  • Event-exclusive items to collect like the Exotic Heir Apparent and its new catalyst, a new Exotic Sparrow, shaders, emblems, and more.
  • Titans, Warlocks, and Hunters compete for the top spot on the podium, bragging rights, and a trophy that will stand in the Tower for the rest of the year.

Guardians are born for challenge. Whether learning to master the dark power of Stasis or staring down the enemies of humanity, time and again Guardians rise to the occasion. Starting today through May 9, Destiny 2 players will be facing a different kind of test: upholding the good standing of their favorite Guardian class. The Guardian Games have returned for 2021 and Titans, Warlocks, and Hunters will answer the call in this free event available to all Destiny 2 players on Xbox.

At its heart, the Guardian Games is a celebration of the spirit of Guardians everywhere. In Destiny 2, the time is right for such a celebration. The Vanguard has reached a cease-fire with the Cabal and their empress Caiatl. The citizens of the Last City are desperate for a ray of light amidst the recent darkness and Commander Zavala, determined to make the most of this moment of respite, calls for the flags to be raised and the games to begin.

Destiny 2 Guardian Games

For the next three weeks, the three Guardian classes will compete in challenges throughout the solar system, with the goal of placing their class on the top step of the podium each week. Along the way, Destiny 2 players will earn great rewards including exotic and legendary weapons and gear, and more.

Medal Count

Participating in the Guardian Games starts by visiting a familiar friend. Eva Levante has returned to the Tower to shepherd players through the competitive festivities. Players can grab their class-specific item required for participation, as well as a medal case which holds the medals and laurels they collect from their adventures throughout the solar system.

Destiny 2 Guardian Games

Players earn medals by completing activities – basic activities reward players bronze medals, while more challenging activities like Nightfalls give silver medals. Gold and platinum medals come from a new source which Eva has on-hand this year: Contender Cards. These cards can be purchased from Eva for laurels and challenge Guardians to complete additional high-level goals (such as gaining a certain amount of melee or primary kills) while completing activities.

Turn in bronze, silver, gold, and platinum medals to collect rewards, such as the Exotic Machine Gun Heir Apparent and its new catalyst, an Exotic Sparrow, legendary weapons, as well as shaders and emblems. All turned-in medals also count towards each class’ overall standings in the Guardian Games. The more valuable the medal, the more progress players can earn for their class.

Destiny 2 Guardian Games

Closing Ceremonies

Each week ends with one class victorious, based on their performance throughout the week. Members of that class will earn an aura they can equip until reset of the following week. During the weekend of May 7, players will be treated to the 2021 Guardian Games closing ceremonies where the final podium positions will be announced, complete with fireworks in the Tower and a trophy commemorating the top class of the games for the rest of the year.

The flags are raised, and the decorations are hung throughout the Tower. The citizens of the Last City are looking to Guardians to rise to the challenge once again and compete for the glory of their class. Let’s give them a good show!

Destiny 2 is available to play today with Xbox Game Pass on console and is Optimized for Xbox Series X|S.

Warzone Season 3 event time UK: When is new Call of Duty Warzone map coming out?

Warzone Season 3 event time UK: When is new Call of Duty Warzone map coming out?
Today’s Call of Duty Warzone event is promising something new to the players who have stuck by the Battle Royale shooter during its first year on consoles and PC.

The journey toward the game’s next big event has been rough at times, with a steady stream of bugs, exploits and meta problems hampering the game.

And while we have seen new maps arrive in the shape of Rebirth Island, something different is being planned for the start of Season 3.

This week will see the start of a new Warzone event which looks set to blow up Verdansk, and replace it with… a different version of Verdansk.

This is what has been teased by leakers over previous months, and it looks like those menacing nukes are scheduled to start flying around very soon.

WHAT TIME IS THE CALL OF DUTY WARZONE EVENT IN THE UK?

Activision has confirmed that the Call of Duty Warzone event time has been set for 8pm BST on Wednesday, April 21.

This will be the start time for UK gamers, with the same event going live in North America at 12pm PST.

We don’t know exactly how Activision will start the event, but we expect a special playlist to be added to the game.

This will be called Operation Rapid Sunder and will likely drop you into Verdnask as part of a squad on a mission.

The undead which have been roaming around the map are expected to play a role and will likely cause some mischief.

Everything is likely to end with the destruction of Verdansk, although we don’t know how things will run.

Activision recently shared a list of times for gamers to keep track of, meaning that there could be a few different points in the event.

The first part will start at 8pm BST in the UK, but other playlists and special modes could be released over the next 24-hours.

Activision will have plenty of time to fill, as this week’s nuke event will be going live far in advance of the new map being launched.

A big part of Call of Duty Season 3 will be the release of the new Warzone map, which will include revamped Verdansk locations.

So gamers should know that while today’s Warzone event kicks off in the evening, Warzone’s Season 3 map isn’t expected to be playable until 5am BST on April 22.

This is when Warzone Season 3 is officially starting and will include the release of new weapons and a fresh Battle Pass.

There is bound to be some kind of trailer to introduce the new changes as well, with the new POIs expected to take centrestage.

Activision has told fans to keep an eye on its official social media feeds today, revealing: “The situation in Verdansk has hit a critical level. It seems the combat zone has become too dangerous for even a Tier 1 Operator to survive in.

“Is a conflagration imminent? The answer is still unknown, though it is recommended you clear your schedule for the week and ready yourself for a crescendo of utter chaos within the Warzone. Be certain you’re available for Operation Rapid Sunder throughout Wednesday, April 21 and beyond.

“Armistice Central Command will be communicating directly to all Operators with further instructions, starting at 12 PM Pacific Time on April 21. Return to the Call of Duty blog—and to Warzone—on this date to receive updates.

“The Season Three update will be available for Black Ops Cold War on April 20 at 9 PM PT and will be available for Warzone April 21 at 9 PM PT.

“For this update, there will be a download size of approximately 8.1 – 13.1 GB for Black Ops Cold War and 25.2 – 25.9 GB for owners of the free-to-play Warzone who have the latest updates on either game.”

Resident Evil ReVerse open beta release date, time, pre-load links for PS4 and Xbox One

Resident Evil ReVerse open beta release date, time, pre-load links for PS4 and Xbox One
Resident Evil fans are counting down to the start of the Re:Verse open beta on PlayStation and Xbox.

The Resident Evil Village multiplayer spinoff is available to anybody who picks up a copy of the upcoming survival horror sequel.

Described as a “fight to the death that all Resident Evil fans can enjoy”, Re:Verse is an online multiplayer spinoff for 4-6 players.

With the release date creeping ever closer, fans can try the game early by taking part in the limited time open beta.

The Resident Evil Re:Verse open beta has an April 21 release date and a 7am BST launch time for fans living in the UK.

Available on PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Xbox One X and PC via Steam, the beta ends just 24-hours later.

If you don’t want to miss a second of the action, PS4 fans can download the open beta from the PlayStation Store right now. Xbox fans can also pre-load the beta by visiting the Xbox website.

While the beta is open to all players, even without a pre-order, there are a couple of things worth remembering if you want to take part.

Resident Evil fans will need to have a CAPCOM ID to access the open beta, and will also need to own supported hardware – which goes without saying.

While the full game will require PS Plus and Xbox Live, it looks like the open beta doesn’t have the same restrictions.

In case you’re unfamiliar with Resident Evil Re:Verse, Capcom explains more: “In Resident Evil Re:Verse you can test your skills against other players in four to six-person survival horror revenge matches.

“Play as beloved characters from the Resident Evil series and turn the tides of battle with powerful bioweapons.”

The game’s five minute deathmatches feature a unique twist, as defeated players return as Bioweapons.

“Take part in 5-minute Deathmatches, where the player with the most points wins! Use the weapons and items you find to take down even more powerful enemies!

“When your character is taken out, their body transforms into a powerful bioweapon which can be used against other players.

“Pick up multiple Virus Capsules to transform into even stronger bioweapons. Getting revenge with a bioweapon is also a great chance for more points!”

New Babylonian God joins Smite in King of Uruk Update

Gilgamesh, King of Uruk, dropkicks his way onto the battleground of the gods in Smite’s newest update – available now!

As the hero of an incredible Sumerian epic, Gilgamesh is a questing, adventurous king. In Smite, he faces off against a tyrannical Tiamat. His gods had whispered of Tiamat’s return and his destiny to defeat her. With sword in hand, Gilgamesh eagerly leaps into battle in hopes to fulfill his final quest.

New Babylonian God joins Smite in King of Uruk Update

When designing Gilgamesh’s visual design, the team wanted to make sure he felt like a king. Looking at ancient art, specifically how ancient civilizations depicted their kings, we were able to incorporate the features and culture of the Babylonian people. During the artistic process, we had clear goals: a strong, fit, male figure that would be culturally accurate. To balance his identity of a king and adventurer, Gilgamesh is adorned with gems and a crown while also ready for battle, carrying a sword and wearing armor. If you look closely, his armor includes a lion and a bull which are both references from his epic. It was said that Gilgamesh acquired powerful artifacts on his journeys and quests, which we wanted to portray as a general theme.

Gilgamesh is a warrior who takes a hands-on approach to combat. He brings a lot of brute-force strength and is quite the tactician. His passive ability is a unique quest that requires him to venture to a map location. Successfully reaching the location will grant Gilgamesh a random Tier 1 item. I alluded to this earlier, but Gilgamesh does indeed have a drop kick ability, launching back his opponents. This ability pairs well with his ultimate: Winds of Shamash. Gilgamesh calls upon the god Shamash to create a ring of wind, slowing and damaging enemies. The drop kick will throw enemies right in the middle of the winds. Be sure to try out this combo and let me know how it feels!

New Babylonian God joins Smite in King of Uruk Update

This update also introduces the first Living Conquest Map update: The Rising Storm. Offended by King Gilgamesh’s challenge, Tiamat summons an intense lightning storm that covers the map. You’ll notice the darker skybox and lighting changes as your play. She also commands her hanging gardens to overgrow with dangerous plant life. Introducing a new gameplay mechanic, Vine Walls will spawn in specific places around the jungle. Players must destroy the walls with basic attacks and they cannot walk through these obstacles. To read all of the map changes for the King of Uruk update, check out our patch notes.

Smite in King of Uruk Update

And finally, I want to remind everyone that the Talons of Tyranny event is still ongoing! New to the event is Headless Horror Chiron, Lady of the Sea Discordia, and Tormented Soul Medusa, the newest reward. Don’t forget that you can get all these skins and all future Talons of Tyranny skins with the Buy All function. This will instantly unlock the Tier 5 Forgotten Gods Chaac Skin.

I hope that everyone enjoys playing as Gilgamesh and I can’t wait to see you all on the battleground.

Call of Duty Cold War Season 3 patch notes, 1.16 update time and release date news

Call of Duty Cold War Season 3 patch notes, 1.16 update time and release date news
Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War Season 3 begins this week with the release of a big update.

Scheduled to go live in the coming hours, Cold War version 1.16 will include all the latest content for the popular shooter, although fans will have to wait a little longer for the full launch.

Four new maps and six new weapons will be released as part of COD Season 3, which is scheduled to go live after another update has been released for Warzone later this week.

And the good news for Zombies fans is that this week’s patch won’t only be updating multiplayer, with plenty being planned across the Call of Duty franchises.

Zombies mode is getting a big boost with the launch of Season 3, including new content for Outbreak Mode and the base maps.

A new field upgrade coming with the launch of Season 3 that will be available across all maps is called Toxic Growth and aims to slow down the hordes of undead.

Players who unlock Toxic Growth using Crystals will be able to summon a deadly growth of toxic thorns in front of an Operator.

Enemies moving through it have their movement speed halved and suffer toxic damage until they exit the affected area. Through the use of Aetherium Crystals, Operators can upgrade Toxic Growth to give it more charges, double its damage, and even cause enemies who perish from the growth to explode.

Treyarch is also planning to add a new explorable area to Outbreak mode called Duga, which is set in the Ural Mountains.

This new area has fresh documents, audio logs, radio transmissions, and artefacts hidden throughout, which are guaranteed to offer hints and Easter eggs regarding what’s coming next to Zombies mode.

Outbreak will also be updated with new world events, with Treyarch telling fans this week: “For the first time in Outbreak, gain access to upgrades for the D.I.E. Machine Wonder Weapon, unlock the powerful Aether Tool item by destroying Fury Crystals, discover the secret to warping ahead to higher difficulty regions even faster, and more.

“Outbreak objectives are now active in more locations than ever before in Season Three. Encounter the Defend, Retrieve, and Holdout Objectives in more regions for even more variety in every Outbreak match.”

CALL OF DUTY BLACK OPS: COLD WAR SEASON 3 RELEASE DATE

Developers Treyarch has confirmed that the Call of Duty Cold War Season 3 release date has been set for Thursday, April 22, 2021.

However, the update that includes all the new content listed above will be available to download on Wednesday, April 21.

Activision has scheduled the Cold War 1.16 patch to go live at 5am BST on April 21 across PS4, Xbox One, PC and next-gen consoles.

A message from Treyarch explains: “The Season Three update will be available for Black Ops Cold War on April 20 at 9 PM PT and will be available for Warzone April 21 at 9 PM PT.

“For this update, there will be a download size of approximately 8.1 – 13.1 GB for Black Ops Cold War and 25.2 – 25.9 GB for owners of the free-to-play Warzone who have the latest updates on either game.”

Early patch notes for this week’s Season 3 release have been shared, with more details expected to be released after this week’s Cold War update:

Hunt for Adler

Starting with the launch of Season Three, the new “Hunt for Adler” limited-time event will task Operators with unique in-game challenges in both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone to learn of Adler’s whereabouts. Complete these Intel Challenges to unlock Event rewards, including Weapon Charms, Calling Cards, a new Operator Skin, and more.

You can find more details about this event in the Seasonal Event tab on the main menu between Play and Weapons once Season Three kicks off in Warzone. Once you’ve completed a full set of challenges in either Black Ops Cold War or Warzone over the course of the event, you’ll unlock an exclusive Adler skin for use in both games.

Sticks and Stones Returns at Season Launch

Yes, the hugely popular Multiplayer mode is back for Black Ops Cold War, continuing Treyarch’s time-honored party mode tradition.

It’s every Operator for themselves, with each player deploying with the R1 Shadowhunter crossbow, Ballistic Knife, and a Tomahawk. Earn score with crossbow and Ballistic Knife kills, and eliminate enemies with the Tomahawk to bankrupt their score to zero. The first player to reach the score limit or the player with the highest score when the timer expires wins.

New Multiplayer and Zombies Season Challenges

Unlock new customization content and XP bonuses by completing new Season Challenges and Operator Missions in Multiplayer and Zombies. Complete all Season Challenges for a specific mode (Multiplayer or Zombies) to unlock a massive bonus of 10,000 XP and a badass Animated Master Calling Card to add to your Profile and Calling Card Showcase.

Apart from its recent work on the Mythra and Pyra reveal trailer for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate earlier this year, we’ve not heard much from Xenoblade Chronicles developer Monolith Soft in recent times. We found out it was hiring for the Legend of Zelda series back in 2019 and there’s also been mention of a “new game” over the past year, but we still don’t really know what it’s up to.

Despite this, the Japanese studio has continued to increase its number of employees. In the latest update (via the official company website), it’s been revealed its headcount has gone from 261 employees in December last year to 272, as of this month. Nintendo Enthusiast shared a detailed breakdown of the company’s expansion:

  • (Released Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in December 2017)
  • December 2017 – 150 employees
  • April 2018 – 163 employees
  • August 2018 – 171 employees
  • (Released Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country in September 2018)
  • November 2018 – 184 employees
  • January 2019 – 193 employees
  • April 2019 – 209 employees
  • June 2019 – 215 employees
  • September 2019 – 224 employees
  • December 2019 – 236 employees
  • April 2020 – 248 employees
  • (Released Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition in May 2020)
  • August 2020 – 254 employees
  • December 2020 – 261 employees
  • April 2021 – 272 employees

Whatever it is Monolith Soft is working on – it’s likely to be just as big as its past projects. They might even be assisting with the upcoming sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Within this latest studio update, some additional data was shared – revealing 27.6% of company employees are female, 72.4% are men, while the average age is 36 years old.

What do you think we might see next from Monolith Soft? What would you like to see it work on? Leave your thoughts below.
