Gemma Atkinson, 35, took to Instagram stories and shared the details with her 1.3 million followers. The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant regularly posts clips about her day-to-day and it was no different when the actress revealed she was “trying to bring the poor fella round”.
The former Emmerdale star shared a snap with a sparrow in her hand after the bird tragically flew into her window.
She captioned the post: “This fella flew into our window. Been trying to bring him round for 20 minutes but nothing…
“Tried water on his beak and belly rubs. Poor little fella,” followed by a heart emoji.
Gemma later added a follow up message after she said fans had offered her suggestions of what to do with the injured bird.

In another post, the Hits Radio DJ said: “Thanks for the tips about the sparrow. He’s in a shoebox in some tissue inside. So will see what happens.”
The self-confessed animal lover seemingly appeared hopeful that the bird may pull through.
Elsewhere, Gemma had to skip the National Television Awards 2020 while her boyfriend Gorka Marquez partied the night away earlier this week.
The actress explained she would be looking after their baby daughter instead, in an Instagram video.
Dame Darcey Bussell was also on hand to celebrate before departing the series and being replaced by Motsi Mabuse.
It comes just days after Gemma opened up about a major lifestyle change as she revealed she has become a vegetarian after becoming a mother for the first time back in July.
Taking to the picture-sharing site, she said she had given up eating meat after seeing a chicken with her chicks during a recent outing.
“A quick little story,” she began. “I haven’t eaten any red meat (beef, lamb, pork, duck) since my mid 20s.
