GTA 6 release date news latest
While February could still see interesting news revealed about the future of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, the latest analyst predictions suggest we might be waiting a little longer for a GTA 6 release date. And if that proves correct, the likelihood that it’s being developed for PS4 and Xbox One platforms falls dramatically.
It’s believed Rockstar Games has been working on its next Grand Theft Auto project for some time.
But the ongoing success of GTA Online has led to some big changes in how Rockstar Games launches titles.
Having proven such a massive hit, more resources have been assigned to the popular multiplayer mode on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
And while parent company Take-Two Interactive hasn’t said anything on the subject yet, it may have affected the launch of GTA 6.
Meanwhile, some analysts are predicting that GTA 6 will not launch in 2020 and may not arrive until the end of next year.
That would mean a wait of just less than two years and that’s without any other delays pushing back the deadline further.
According to the Daily Star, equity research firm Jeffries recently hosted an expert call with industry expert, Darion Lowenstein.
Lowenstein has experience of Rockstar’s workings and suggests that 2021 is the earliest we could see the next Grand Theft Auto game.
“As a former Rockstar employee, Darion noted that the Houser brothers place all their emphasis on game quality rather than hitting a deadline,” a press release explains.
“His absolute best-case-scenario for a game release is Holiday 2021, though he does not expect an announcement/trailer anytime soon.
A new Grand Theft Auto is likely coming to PS5 and Xbox Series
“We’ve seen online rumours and have heard client speculation that a trailer could drop as early as next month, but Darion’s take is that investors / gamers will have to wait longer.”
So not only will there be no big GTA 6 news in the coming weeks, according to this latest predictions, fans also have plenty of time to wait for the eventual release.
And while there was no prediction made regarding what platform GTA 6 will be released on but a product launching in late 2021 will probably be exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X.
That will no doubt prove massively disappointing for PS4 and Xbox One gamers who weren’t planning to upgrade.
As always, this remains a prediction and there’s no way of knowing the plan behind Rockstar Games’ next big project.
It follows the news that Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two Interactive will report its Fiscal Third Quarter 2020 Results this week.
This won’t include anything directly referencing GTA 6 but it may come with some guidance on what we can expect from Grand Theft Auto in 2020.
If more big updates are coming to GTA Online, there will be some kind of mention, or a warning, if nothing is being planned.
Take-Two won’t go into great detail about what is being planned for GTA Online, but they will go so far as to say they have new updates planned for this year.
The event is being held on February 6, 2020, meaning gamers won’t have to wait long to find out the latest.
A message on the Take-Two website confirms: “Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO) today announced that it plans to report financial results for the third quarter of its fiscal year 2020, ended December 31, 2019, after the market close on Thursday, February 6, 2020.
“The Company plans to hold a conference call to discuss its results at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time, which can be accessed by dialing (877) 407-0984 or (201) 689-8577. A live, listen-only webcast and a replay of the call will be available.”
February is also rumoured to be the month that Sony will finally unveil its plans for the PS5, although this is very unlikely to include anything regarding GTA 6.
