Health Secretary Matt Hancock backs our NHS Heroes campaign –'They're the very best of us'

The Health Secretary has put his support behind Express.co.uk’s campaign for brave NHS Heroes on the frontline battling against coronavirus. There have currently been over 4,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK – and 177 deaths. The Express.co.uk campaign is urging Britons to pledge their support for the fantastic workers within the NHS.

The Health Secretary said: “I wholeheartedly support the NHS Heroes campaign.

“Our talented health and care workers across the UK are rising to the immense challenge that we face as a country.”

The Express.co.uk NHS Heroes campaign is asking you to show NHS workers your love by helping us create a living map of gratitude from every corner of Britain.

By dropping a heart on the map, you’re saying you appreciate the efforts undertaken daily in the NHS.

Mr Hancock added: “As Health and Social Care Secretary, I’ve had the incredible honour of meeting many of them and could not be more proud.

“The courage, dedication and professionalism they show as they carry out their vital work both in hospitals and in our communities should be an inspiration for us all.

“I urge the public to show their support for these heroes – they are the very best of us.”

In extraordinary circumstances, due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19, the NHS is under increased pressure – and we have never needed them more.

They share the same fears, uncertainties and anxieties that all of us do.

They have children at home to care for, vulnerable parents and relatives to consider, underlying health conditions to protect.

But through it all, they put the safety and well-being of all of us in front of their own, working round the clock to ensure they do the best they possibly can for those under the care.
