Hearthstone Battlegrounds update: Patch notes confirm Holy Mackerel, Felfire Festival news

The next Hearthstone Battlegrounds update is a big one, bringing new cards to the game and removing some others.

And not only will there be things like Holy Mackerel being thrown overboard, but a whole host of other changes are being cooked for the month of June.

As confirmed by Blizzard, the big Hearthstone update releasing this week will mostly affect Battlegrounds mode.

This is being released on June 9 and includes 17 new minions and 3 new Heroes, with Patches coming out of retirement boasting a new hero power.

The Felfire Festival has also been announced and is set to play a much bigger role in the weeks to come.

This will start with a new Story adventure being released on June 17, details of which can be found below:

The Tavern gets a makeover for the free five-chapter Trial by Felfire Solo Adventure. Follow the story of Aranna Starseeker on a journey of self-exploration, taking up arms with the Demon Hunters and teaming up with Illidan to take on the twisted architect of the rusted legion itself: MECHA-JARAXXUS! Furthermore, Aranna will enter Battlegrounds as a new hero on the same day.

HEARTHSTONE BATTLEGROUNDS UPDATE

While there is plenty to look forward to in the coming weeks, the next Hearthstone update will mostly focus on Battlegrounds.

A big change will be the Battlegrounds Shifting Minion Pools, which will help keep things a little fresher.

At the start of each game of Battlegrounds, five of the six currently available minion types (Beasts, Demons, Dragons, Mechs, Murlocs, and now Pirates) will form the recruitment pool for that game.

The active minion types will be displayed while you’re selecting a Hero—you can also check anytime during the Recruit phase by hovering over Bartender Bob’s deck.

To keep things fair, Heroes designed with synergies around specific minion types will sit out if their corresponding minion type is unavailable.

Pirates will always be available in the minion pool until they join the rest of the shifting minion pool in a future update.

A new Battlegrounds Hero Pool Update is coming but will only be accessible to those with the Battlegrounds Perks this week.
