High blood pressure: Common exercise you should avoid or risk deadly hypertension symptoms

High blood pressure – which is also known as hypertension – puts extra stress on blood vessels and vital organs.

The condition could lead to some deadly complications, including strokes and heart attacks.

It could be caused by eating an unhealthy diet, or by not doing enough exercise.

However, there are some exercises that you should avoid, as they could be raising your blood pressure.

“Different kinds of exercise and activity have different effects on your body,” said the charity.

“If you have high blood pressure, you should try to focus on activities that will help your heart and blood vessels.

“Other forms of activity are less helpful. For example, you should not do any exercise that is very intensive for short periods of time, such as sprinting or weight lifting.

“These kinds of activities will quickly raise your blood pressure, and put unwanted strain on your heart and blood vessels.”

There are also some exercises that will require a certificate from your doctor, if you have high blood pressure, including scuba diving and parachuting.

Meanwhile, the best activities for your blood pressure include aerobic exercises, it added.

Aerobic exercises are those that use all of the large muscle groups, while also being repetitive and rhythmic.

Swimming, jogging and cycling are all examples of aerobic activities.

High blood pressure is often known as ‘the silent killer’, because symptoms only tend to reveal themselves if you have extremely high blood pressure.

The most common high blood pressure symptoms include a pounding in your chest, finding blood in your urine, and severe headaches.

It’s crucial that all adults over 40 years old check their blood pressure at least once every five years.
