High blood pressure can cause many problems for the heart said Mayo Clinic.
The site continued: “Problems with the heart could include coronary artery disease due to arteries being narrowed and damaged by high blood pressure causing trouble with the supply of blood to the heart.
“When blood cannot flow freely to the heart, you can have chest pain, irregular heart rhythms or a heart attack.
“An enlarged left heart is another problem with the heart as high blood pressure forces your heart to work harder to pump blood to the rest of your body.
“This causes part of your heart to thicken and a thickened left ventricle increases your risk of heart attack, heart failure and sudden cardiac death.”
