Holidays: Bookings site reveals the travel trend surging in popularity this year

Earlier this month, the government released a list of countries that people from England can travel to without facing quarantine rules on their return. Countries on the list include France, Italy and other destinations in Europe. Spain and Belgium have both since been removed from the list after a sudden spike in coronavirus cases.

Despite some destinations being axed, bookings are still picking back up again across a number of sites.

However, one booking platform called CuddlyNest has revealed that there is one travel trend that has remained constant.

CuddlyNest is a fourth-year start-up based in Orlando, Florida.

The site is a booking platform for all accommodation types for all travellers anywhere in the world.

It is currently offering over a million accommodations worldwide.

The company’s mission is to offer all travellers all accommodations at an unbeatable price.

“We just really want to make it simple for travellers to book all types of accommodation on all budgets around the world,” CuddlyNest Partner and COO, Ritesh Raj told Express.co.uk.

“And we’re trying to keep the price as low as possible,” he added.

Raj spoke exclusively about the recent travel trends CuddlyNest has experienced since coronavirus lockdown measures have eased across the globe.

One of those travel trends is domestic travel.

“We have seen a lot of people booking domestic holidays,” Raj explained.

He continued: “But it’s not necessarily right next to their house.

“I’ve seen a lot of people living in the city, and then booking something like 100 kilometres away in the mountains.

“Or more of a cottage-like feel or a cabin.

“It depends on the country. We operate in over 150 countries with over two million listings.

“It’s hard to specify one particular country.”

He explained that normally it’s in the range of 100 kilometres that people are now booking holidays.

But some domestic travellers in some countries travel further distances depending on their mode of transport.

Raj continued: “A country like Germany for example, we see a bigger range of distances because of the autobahn that is like a no-speed-limit highway so you can travel a lot further within an hour.”

Raj explained that he’s seen more people staying in “non-urban” destinations away from the city.
