How to lose visceral fat: Eating this food could reduce the dangerous belly fat

Visceral fat is stored in a person’s abdominal cavity and is also known as ‘active fat’ as it influences how hormones function in the body. Belly fat is extremely unhealthy as the dangers of storing excess visceral fat can be extreme and immediate so it’s essential to make the diet and lifestyle changes as soon as possible as losing weight can help a person reduce their levels of visceral fat. An excess of visceral fat can, therefore have potentially dangerous consequences as it increases the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and other health conditions. Luckily, one can lose either visceral fat and eating a certain type of food type could help.

Imaging scans, such as computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans are the most accurate way to determine whether someone has visceral fat.

However, because conducting these scans is both expensive and time-consuming, a doctor is more likely to diagnose visceral fat by asking a person questions about their diet and lifestyle.

The doctor will likely also measure the person’s overall body fat to get an idea of what percentage is likely to be visceral fat.

For those concerned with having too much visceral fat, eating more avocados could help.

Research has shown that increasing the amount of fibre you eat could help with reducing belly fat. Leading health experts suggest including soluble fibre in your diet can help one to lose their belly fat.

Soluble fibre, such a beta-glucan and glucomannan, mixes with water to form a viscous, gel-like substance that slows down how fast the stomach release digested food in the gut.

This allows stools to pass through the gut which helps with constipation.

Eating more soluble fibre can also help with losing belly fat and prevent belly fat gain. Avocados are a great source of soluble fibre.

What the study say

In a study with the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, the relation between dietary fibre intake and visceral adiposity in overweight people was investigated.

The study noted: “We assessed the relation between changes in dietary intake, specifically sugar and fibre intakes with changes in adiposity and risk factors of type 2 diabetes.”

The study found that increasing total dietary fibre and insoluble fibre created major changes in subcutaneous abdominal adipose tissue.

It concluded that small reductions in dietary fibre had profound effects on helping a person lose their visceral fat.

Soluble fibre also encourages gut bacteria diversity which is linked to less belly fat.

There are over 100 trillion helpful bacteria living in the gut.

There are many different types of bacteria and having a greater variety of gut bacteria is linked to a lower risk of conditions such as type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance and heart disease.

As the body can’t digest fibre itself, it reaches the gut largely unchanged. Once there, specific enzymes in gut bacteria can digest soluble fibre and this is an important for how gut bacteria promotes optimal health.

Meanwhile, soluble fibre acts as a prebiotic, providing the bacteria with nutrients.

This process of digesting and breaking down soluble fibre is called fermentation.

It produces short-chain fatty acids which is a type of fat that helps one to lose the dangerous belly fat.
