Another solution could be to use a baking soda and vinegar solution.
This low-cost method can be made by adding a couple of teaspoons of baking powder with one cup of vinegar.
Bicarbonate of soda can also be used in place of baking soda.
Then place this solution down the sink to dislodge the blockage.
Alka-Seltzers can also prove effective in dislodging mild blockages and nasty smells.
With this method, you should place a couple of these down the plughole and then pour a cup of vinegar down the sink.
After a few minutes, you should then blast the blockage with hot water to flush through the blockage.
A little biological washing powder can also be used by placing two tablespoons of washing powder down the plughole followed by a kettle’s worth of boiling water.
This solution can remove any fats and grease which have built up.
Soda crystals may also prove to be effective.
