Jack P Shepherd, 31, began acting at the tender age of 12. He landed his first TV role in Where The Heart Is and also played Charlie Kolakowski in the BBC drama Clocking Off. He joined the cast of Coronation Street back in 2000 and has entertained audiences for almost two decades. Playing the ultimate villain has seen him numerous accolades for his talent but behind the scenes Jack has suffered with a debilitating condition.
The NHS says of migraines: “The main symptom is usually an intense headache on one side of the head.
“The pain is usually a moderate or severe throbbing sensation that gets worse when you move and prevents you carrying out normal activities.
“In some cases, the pain can occur on both sides of your head and may affect your face or neck.”
Why do some people experience migraines and others don’t?
Researchers are not sure exactly why migraine headaches or episodes occur.
One theory is that they are due to inflammation in the brain, which can cause blood vessels to swell and put pressures on nerves, causing pain.
Migraines appear to have a link with a person’s genes.
According to the Migraine Research Foundation, 90 percent of people with the condition have a family history of migraines.
What are other symptoms of a migraine?
The NHS explains: “Other symptoms commonly associated with a migraine include feeling sick, being sick or an increased sensitivity to light and sound which is why many people with a migraine want to rest in a quiet, dark room.
“Some people also occasionally experience other symptoms including sweating, poor concentration, feeling very hot or very cold, abdominal pain or diarrhoea.”
