Strictly Come Dancing star James Jordan, 42, has opened up about how he is coping after his beloved father Allan was told he might only have one year to live. Allan was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour after suffering three strokes and being rushed to hospital during the coronavirus lockdown.
James has now revealed he “never expected” his dad’s heartbreaking health news and that his wife Ola Jordan has “been there” for him and their baby daughter Ella during this tough time for the family.
The star divulged: “I am very close to my mum and dad. I just thought, ‘My grandad is 90 and my dad is 67’.
“I never expected it. He is such a fit guy, out playing golf all the time and only just retired. It’s just a cruel world.”
The television personality added: “Ola has been there for me and the baby. My mum is a really strong person as well.

“I know she is struggling but obviously being really strong for my dad. My dad is being really strong — he doesn’t want people upset — but it shows how much everyone loves him when they are upset.”
The Dancing on Ice winner also told The Sun that his daughter is “the only light” for his family following his dad’s heartbreaking diagnosis.
He explained: “The only light we all have is Ella because she is unknown to it all. We have to be strong for her.”
James also told the publication he is hoping to receive “help or suggestions”, as he doesn’t know much about Allan’s condition.

The star continued: “He’s got a GBM4, which is the worst brain tumour there is. I know that everyone looks for the magic pill, and there is no such thing.
“But if there is anything that can get us longer with him or make him more comfortable, I am always looking.
“I find it really hard to accept at the moment. Every time I see him it breaks my heart. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced.”
James first shared the sad news about his dad’s illness last week in a moving Instagram post alongside a video of Allan spending time with baby Ella.

The dancer referred to the adorable moment as a “precious thing” as he revealed his dad has been told he has an “aggressive cancerous tumour”.
He said in a lengthy post: “Over the last 4 months my hero and best mate in the whole world has been in and out of hospital with very ill health.
“We were told several times that 100 [per cent] he had had a stroke and that’s why they were struggling to control his seizures.”
James added: “It was what I had dreaded, my dad has a tumour and after having a biopsy it’s come back that it’s an aggressive cancerous one. The worst kind unfortunately.
“We have been told that it’s not advisable to operate because of where the tumour is and wouldn’t actually make that much difference even if they could.
“The end result is, it’s terminal.”
James said the doctors have told his family they “might be lucky” to have a year with him, with the help of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
“This is honestly the worst time of my life,” he added.
The Strictly favourite went on to say he is looking for the “best surgeon” to give a second opinion on the matter.
