In view of his 468,000 Twitter followers, Raymond opened up about his loss last month.

He penned: “These last 2 weeks, I kept myself to myself. I lost my 97-year-old mum known as ‘maman Blanc.’ She was all love and spread it around all of her life, great cook and gardener. She gave me the strongest foundations of my ethics, cooking and the creation of @lemanoir @brasserieblanc.”

James was one of the first to reply to the emotional tribute as he offered his condolences.

The ITV favourite replied: “Big love to you chef… I will raise a glass to a special lady this evening.”

The British chef died in November due to a bleed on the brain.

The dad-of-two – who moved to the UAE in 2007 – was working on the day he died and his death is said to have come as a complete shock.

The chef was also known for shows such as Rhodes Around Britain, MasterChef and Hell’s Kitchen.

James honoured Gary by making his “iconic” Welsh Rabbit on This Morning, praising the “legend”.

Elsewhere, the ITV chef celebrated his birthday like many others in lockdown but appeared to be spending his special day working.
