Saturday Morning chef James Martin took the opportunity to honour his late friend Gary Rhodes on This Morning today. The British chef died in November due to a bleed on the brain.
James paid tribute to Gary by making his “iconic” dish on the ITV programme, praising the “legend”.
The 47-year-old made a Welsh rarebit, which is a blend of melted cheese and savory spices.
It is then poured over slices of toasted bread, often with tomatoes or bacon on top.
Praising the dish, host Holly Willoughby gushed: “I just want to say, this flavour combination is one of the nicest things I’ve ever eaten. It is so good.

“I would eat it on Christmas Day. It’s that good.”
James replied: “When your team spoke to me about dishes, and asked what I wanted to do, I said well we lost the legend Gary Rhodes in late November and Michel Roux Senior in March this year.
“Both I worked with, they were friends of mine who I worked with and had even worked with Michel this year.
“There are so many iconic dishes they both did, and this is right up there. It’s one of my favourite, favourite dishes. I’m glad you like it, it is amazing.”

Gary – who was famed for his spiky hair – died unexpectedly while filming a new series for ITV in Dubai.
The dad-of-two – who moved to the UAE in 2007 – was working on the day he died and his death is said to have come as a complete shock.
His family confirmed in a statement at the time that Gary had suffered a subdural hematoma, usually associated with a brain injury.
The chef was also known for shows such as Rhodes Around Britain, MasterChef and Hell’s Kitchen.

At the time of his death, James paid tribute with a throwback snap of Gary on Instagram, and posted: “Hugely influential in my life and the life of the British food scene.
“Gent and genius… RIP Gary, I can’t believe you’re gone.”
James also paid tribute to the late French chef and restaurateur Michel Roux Senior.
Later on, the ITV chef took to Instagram and unveiled his delicacies to his 391,000 followers.
He captioned the post: “Today’s @thismorning food!”
Fans flocked to comment on the delicious dishes, as one person said: “My mouth won’t stop watering!”
“Those meringues look like summer on a plate,” another social media user commented.
While a third person added: “Absolutely amazing! Can’t wait to try both of these!”
