It comes after James spoke to Andy Jaye on the talkRADIO’s podcast Driven Celebrities about his role as the “sensible” presenter out of himself, Jeremy and Richard.
Andy began by stating: “You play a bit of a role sometimes, with the captain sensible thing etc.
“It’s not the real you, is it?”
James divulged: “No, not entirely. We are caricatures on TV, it’s exactly like someone drawing a character.
“That’s the sad truth of it.”
James, who now hosts his self-titled programme Our Man In Japan, co-hosted Top Gear with Richard and Jeremy from 2003 until 2015.
In the same conversation, the TV favourite cleared up the rumours surrounding his father being a priest.
It comes after Andy said: “I also want to talk to you about cooking and various other things.”
