James May: Top Gear star says The Grand Tour co-hosts are going in 'wrong direction'

It comes after James spoke to Andy Jaye on the talkRADIO’s podcast Driven Celebrities about his role as the “sensible” presenter out of himself, Jeremy and Richard.

Andy began by stating: “You play a bit of a role sometimes, with the captain sensible thing etc.

“It’s not the real you, is it?”

James divulged: “No, not entirely. We are caricatures on TV, it’s exactly like someone drawing a character.

“That’s the sad truth of it.”

James, who now hosts his self-titled programme Our Man In Japan, co-hosted Top Gear with Richard and Jeremy from 2003 until 2015.

In the same conversation, the TV favourite cleared up the rumours surrounding his father being a priest.

It comes after Andy said: “I also want to talk to you about cooking and various other things.”
