As the answer was incorrect and the contestant was knocked out, Jeremy joked the audience were all “morons” before labelling himself as one too.

“I’m a moron and I’m an especial moron because I said don’t set your safety net at 16. John, I am so sorry.

The contestant quipped: “I never have a good time when I come to Manchester,” before walking away with the £1,000 consolation prize.

Speaking to RadioTimes.com, the former football player said he didn’t blame Jeremy but rather the audience, joking: “I blame the audience in Manchester, because they know I’m from Liverpool and they’re probably Man United fans, so they wanted me to get it wrong.”
