Jet2 plans to restart flights to mainland Spain, Balearic & Canary Islands

Jet2 also announced this week that it would be relaunching its flights to the popular Algarve region in Portugal. The country was added to the UK’s travel corridor list earlier this week. Britons travelling from the country to the UK will face 14 days in quarantine.

However, Spain remains absent from the list after being removed last month amid a rise in coronavirus cases.

Spain is currently experiencing a sudden surge in cases despite it implementing a strict lockdown earlier this year.

The country now has Europe’s fastest-rising case rate with 142 cases per 100,000 people over a 14-day period.

But despite registering sometimes thousands of new cases on a daily bases, Jet2 will be continuing its flights to the country and its surrounding islands on August 30.

“In line with FCO travel advice, we are constantly reviewing our flights and holidays programme,” Jet2 posted on Twitter.

These are Jet2’s planned restart dates to destinations currently affected by amendments to their programme.

Flights and holidays to Portugal are planning to restart on August 24.

Croatia, which was removed from the UK’s travel corridor list this week, is also included.

Jet2holidays to Croatia are planning to restart on August 31.

“Flight-only customers can still travel to Croatia, however those who no longer wish to travel up to and including August 30 can rebook with no admin fee,” according to Jet2.

However, Jet2 has warned that their programme “is constantly being reviewed” so additional changes could occur.

They continued: “Where this is the case we will contact customers directly to discuss the options.

“We will be in touch as soon as possible, so we urge affected customers not to contact us.”

Currently, all travellers returning from Croatia, Spain and the Canary and Balearic Islands must self-isolate for 14 days.

The Foreign Office (FCO) is advising against all non-essential travel to these destinations.

This means that travellers may not be covered by travel insurance if they travel there.

Travelling from Portugal to the UK does not require quarantine though, and Jet2 will see its first flights depart to Faro, in the Algarve, from August 24.

Passengers can jet off on weekly flights to the sun-soaked destination from all nine of Jet2’s UK bases.

In light of Portugal being added to the UK’s travel corridor list, bookings for Portugal spiked over 2000 percent immediately following the quarantine exemption announcement, according to Skyscanner.
