The ITV presenter said she dyed her hair blonder last night for her big return to the show today.
However, Kate told co-star Ben Shephard that it hadn’t exactly gone to plan.
The 53-year-old said it was a “little blonder” that she usually has it – even saying it looked a bit “fluorescent”.
Kate added: “If there’s a crisis, go blonder.”
The star has returned to work as husband Derek Draper continues to fight for his life in hospital after his coronavirus battle.
He has now woken up from his coma, however doctors have warned Kate he is still ‘critical’.
Kate admitted ‘a lot had gone wrong’ already as she opened GMB with Ben Shephard today.
The star told viewers that her car had failed to pick her up this morning.
She then said her computer began a two-hour update as soon as she entered the studio.
Ben told the audience the pair didn’t have any autocue today too.
He commented: “We haven’t got anyone on autocue, someone as stepped in. Who know’s what we’re going to be saying.”
Despite all this, Kate said she was ‘looking forward to have some fun’ on the show today.
Fans were thrilled to see Kate back on GMB, as many called her “brave”.
One wrote on Twitter: “Kate Garraway is a very brave lady. Back on good morning Britain and putting a brave face on what must be great inner hurt. Good luck to her. #KateGarraway #GMB.”
While another added: “Just waking up to see the lovely Kate Garraway back…a fantastic start to a #MondayMorning!”
