Last month, it was announced Derek had moved into an intensive care unit after testing positive for COVID-19.
His wife Kate had also been displaying symptoms of the virus, but it has not been confirmed if she has also contracted the illness.
Taking precautionary measures, the Smooth FM radio presenter has been self-isolating with her children at home, as well as being on hand for any developments with Derek.
Having not heard much about the former I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! star’s husband’s condition, today, Ben Shephard updated viewers and read out a statement she had put on her official social media sites.

Ben said: “I know lots of you have been asking how Kate, Darcey and Billy are getting on. And Derek you know is in hospital.
“Well Kate posted this on Instagram last night, on the back of the applause for our carers.”
Ben read out: “From the bottom of my heart a billion thank yous to the extraordinary #nhsworkers whose skills, dedication and downright guts in the face of so much personal risk, are keeping my Derek alive, just as they are doing for thousands of Covid patients.
“I’m afraid he is still in a deeply critical condition, but he is still here, which means there is hope.

“Sending so much love and support to the thousands who have had that hope for their loved ones stolen by this hideous disease.
“You are not alone and I hope that helps give you strength to withstand the torture of grief.
“Thank you, too, to my own little band of ‘key workers’ , the neighbours who let off fireworks tonight for the #nhs , gave the Easter bunny a helping hand to make life feel a bit more normal for Darcey & Billy, those who have dropped off food, and friends, family and all of you who have sent messages of love and support.
“It’s such a comfort. We must all stand together. #clapthecarers #love #hope.”

Ranvir Singh who was hosting alongside Ben today added the following during an interview with a coronavirus survivor’s husband: “Kate here, a member of our family who is suffering terribly at the moment. I do think people must be so traumatised by facing death so vividly.”
Viewers of GMB took to Twitter to send their well wishes to Kate, Derek and their family.
