Taking to Instagram page this evening, the 53-year-old presenter told fans she is hoping to deliver some news on his her husband’s heath on tomorrow’s edition of the ITV breakfast show.
Mother of two Kate penned to her 901,000 followers alongside a collage of her and herself and Ben Shephard in the GMB studio: “So looking forward to seeing you all on @gmb tomorrow morning (we’ll lose the weird face masks don’t worry).
“After at emotional few days hopefully will have an update for you on Derek. See you at 6 a.m with @benshephardofficial.”
Kate returned to ITV last week for the first time in four months after taking time off from the breakfast show.
Derek, 52, was admitted to hospital with coronavirus back in March, and though he no longer has the virus, it has wreaked havoc on his internal organs.
The former lobbyist is virus free and has emerged from his Covid-19 coma after 98 days in hospital.
He has opened his eyes but has “minimum consciousness”.
Kate put on a brave face over the weekend and hosted a birthday bash for her son Billy on Saturday.
The ITV star celebrated her youngest child’s upcoming 11th birthday in style with an I’m A Celebrity themed event in the garden.
The proud mum wanted to make the most of the happy occasion, as Derek remains in hospital.
Kate took to her Instagram page to document Billy’s special day, describing how her hubby was usually one that organised the family events.
Alongside a snap of herself and pal Myleene Klass, who helped organise the bash, Kate wrote: “So I was super nervous about Bill’s birthday this year – we usually have a family do with grandparents and a few of his friends but obviously this not possible.
“So we are seeing grandparents separately but wanted to do something for him and his mates in the garden.”
She added: “Derek is so brilliant at this, organising treasure hunts and boys own adventures so mentioned to @myleeneklass really didn’t want to let Bill down and did she know anyone with a tent we could borrow in case it was wet.
“Little did I know what I was unleashing! She is in her element! At 8.30 this morning she arrived with Apollo in tow to supervise the brilliant @sleepyteepeeuk to set up the most amazing jungle camp ever.”
Kate revealed on Good Morning Britain today that Billy was “emotional” over the weekend as he celebrated his birthday for the first time without his dad being there.
But the former I’m A Celeb star told her little boy that they could do it all again once his father was home.
She joked: “It’s like the Queen, I told him. Obviously there’s the situation with his dad being in hospital, and all the challenges with mixing.
“He’s having four birthdays, the first was with his friends on Saturday and Global Smooth Radio sent him a cake which was delivered by Roman Kemp and his dad Martin Kemp.”
“Billy absolutely loved it, he was completely overwhelmed.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am
