The second episode of BBC Two series Celebrity: A 21st-Century Story took a look at the 40-year-old’s rise to fame and where she started.

And Sheeraz Hasan, who ran the biggest network of paparazzi in Los Angeles, has claimed it was Kim that would tip him off so he could get the money-making shots of Paris.

Speaking on the BBC show, Sheeraz said: “I was the media machine behind Paris Hilton.

“If you’re in the business of fame, you need to be a narcissist. You need some serious self-belief and that’s what her X-factor was.”

The entrepreneur said: “There are some people that hate paparazzi – those people are unemployed, they’re not relevant, they’re not working. Good luck!

“I can tell you right now, the people that embrace paparazzi, they understand the business of fame.”

The second episode also looked at so-called “car crash” celebrities, going back to Kerry Katona’s infamous This Morning interview from 2008, in which she was slurring her words.

It also looked at Britney Spear’s distressing mental health breakdown in 2007, when she shaved her head and attacked paparazzi with an umbrella after being hounded by them day in-day out.
