Riot Games has confirmed that League of Legends server maintenance is happening today and will also affect Teamfight Tactics. The good news is that League of Legends maintenance is scheduled to last a set amount of time and we know for how long. We also know that Riot Games has chosen to split up its downtime so that it doesn’t run for a very long period. This means that while League of Legends and TFT will be down for several hours today, it won’t last nearly as long as it could have.
HOW LONG ARE LEAGUE OF LEGENDS SERVERS DOWN TODAY?
League of Legends server down time is starting on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, and will also affect TFT and TFT Mobile.
Riot Games has confirmed that maintenance will last around five hours and will mean that the game will be unplayable during that time.
The development team has also revealed when the League of Legends will start, with Riot Games planning on taking down servers today at 10:30am GMT.
While this will be disruptive for some in the UK, gamers in the United States will see maintenance start at 2:30am PT.
Here’s more information from Riot Games, who have explained why they are making these changes in May:
“On May 5, 2020, and May 19, 2020, League of Legends, TFT, and TFT on mobile will be down for an approximately 5-hour maintenance, starting from 2:30 AM – 7:30 AM PT.
“The initial server maintenance on April 20 was the first of a series of server downtimes to physically rearrange some space in their data centres.
“Both the North American and Oceania servers are hosted in one of the datacenters that are being reorganized, and so, they need to be taken down during the work period.
“Instead of doing this reshuffling all at once with one extremely long downtime, we decided to split them up into three separate instances to lessen the amount of time you won’t have access per day.
“Our goal is to create the least amount of pain as possible when undertaking these longer-than-usual server downtimes. In general, we never want to impact any region during their peak.
