Lionel Messi's father to meet Barcelona chief on Wednesday ahead of possible Man City move

Lionel Messi‘s father Jorge will meet with Barcelona chief Josep Bartomeu on Wednesday in an attempt to smooth tensions between his son and the club ahead of a potentially monumental transfer to Manchester City.

Messi told club officials last week that he was planning on leaving the club after 17 years of service.

The Argentine is said to be keen on a move to Manchester City, who also want to try and finance the huge deal.

Messi refused to attend coronavirus testing at Barca’s training ground on Sunday and he didn’t show up for training on Monday morning.

Messi will be hopeful the two sides can come to a resolution and agree a fee he can leave for.

City boss Pep Guardiola was in Barcelona last week and he’s already spoken to Messi on the phone about a potential move.

Messi’s cousin Maximiliano Biancucchi Cuccittini also believes that City would be the best fit for the football legend.

“Of all the teams that have been suggested, I feel that Manchester City would be a good fit.

“Another would be PSG, but we are going to have to wait, and wherever he goes he will be happy and have peace.”
