The incident occurred on Jubilee Avenue at 2.30am. He was found near a railway crossing close to Highams Park last night. Emergency services are currently dealing with the incident. There is no London Overground service between Hackney Downs to Chingford and Edmonton Green to Cheshunt due to the incident, rail services have confirmed.
The delays are expected to last until 3.30pm today.
Detective Inspector Daniel Thompson, leading the investigation said: “A young man is currently in hospital fighting for his life as a result of this attack.
“We are just a few hours into our investigation we really need to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed any suspicious activity around the railway crossing on Jubilee Avenue.
“I am especially keen to hear from anyone who saw a silver car that was paying particular attention to this incident.

“We know that this car stayed in the area for a number of minutes before driving away in the direction of Broadway.”
A Network Rail statement read: “The emergency services are currently dealing with an incident near Highams Park.
“Trains between London Liverpool Street and Chingford/Cheshunt may be cancelled, delayed or revised.”
The details of the victim have not yet been revealed.

A separate attack also occurred in Dagenham, east London on Monday afternoon although the incidents are not thought to be related.
Police were called to reports of a car crash at Gale Street at 6.18pm.
A man in his 20s was taken to hospital following the incident.

“Officers attended along with paramedics from London Ambulance Service (LAS).
“It was reported that two cars had collided and a man inside one of the vehicles had then been stabbed.
“The victim and the suspect(s) had left the scene before police arrived.
“A short time later, a man in his 20s, attended an east London hospital with stab injuries.
“We await an update on his condition.
“A crime scene is in place.
