London street on lockdown: Police close central London road after horror rush hour attack

Images show emergency services, including an ambulance. on the scene of Leather Lane, between Holborn and Farringdon in what is believed to be a pepper spray attack. One Twitter user said: “Police have cordoned off Leather Lane and there’s a heavy presence with an ambulance. Police at scene said there’s been an incident, but that no one is seriously injured (and that it’s not coronavirus-related!). 

“Stallholder said someone got restrained and pepper-sprayed.”

Another said: “What’s happening in Leather Lane?

“Ambulance, police, fire engines, and lots of activity.”

As of yet, there have been no reports of injuries following the incident. 

The police, have also not released a statement as to what transpired on Leather Lane. 

The incident on Leather Lane comes after a man was shot by Met Police on Sunday night. 

Police officers were patrolling the area when they noticed a man acting suspiciously.

After being confronted by officers, the police shot the man dead after he produced two knives.

The Met Police told Express.co.uk: “A man has been shot dead by officers following an incident in Westminster at 11.27pm on Sunday, March 8.

“This is not being treated as a terrorist incident.

“Officers remain on scene and updates will follow.

“Road closures remain in place.”

A teenager was also stabbed to death on a bus in Croydon on Sunday. 

The 17-yer-old was attacked on at 8.30pm and died shortly after due to his injuries.

In order to tackle the problem across the country, Boris Johnson has pledged to put 20,000 police officers back on the street.
