Luggage: Packing these items could result in huge losses warns baggage handler 1

Travelling with luggage comes with its own set of potential issues that can arise at the airport. From surpassing weight restrictions and being faced with hefty costs to lost luggage upon arrival, baggage woes aren’t uncommon. However, it seems packing certain items in your suitcase can increase passenger’s risk of facing travel setbacks.

Not only will this protect luggage during transit, but it will also provide coverage for the duration of your holiday.

Anna Sant, travel insurance expert at MoneySuperMarket advises: “As soon as you book your holiday – even if it’s within your own country – it’s important that you take out insurance to ensure you and your possessions are protected.

“When taking out a policy, pay close attention to the baggage cover, which will cover you if your baggage is lost, damaged or stolen while you’re travelling.

“Some insurers only cover up to £1,000 worth of items, so it’s worth checking that you have the right level of cover for your needs.

“Keep belongings close and in sight, and avoid leaving your luggage unattended at all times.

“If you do leave your luggage unattended, this could void the terms of your policy and you may not receive a payout in the event of a claim.”
